A deadly trap - urgent Support needed
Ridge D/A Basic School popularly called Abetico Practice Basic School is one of the best Basic school in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern region of Ghana. The school have three (3) departments namely KG, primary and the JHS department. The school have excel in many areas. In academics, the school place 3rd in the District 2015 BECE result and for the past three (3) years the school have
managed a 100% the in BECE result. In sport, the school won the 2015 U - 13 inter-school competition and represented the District but they couldn't make it to the regional competition because the lost in the final to Kwahu West District in the regional qualifiers.
In cultural, the school did marvelously well the inter school
choral competition and went on the win the District competition in the primary division. Because of these achievements, it came as no surprise when the school was judge the second best most improved Basic School in Eastern region of Ghana in 2015 national best teacher and schools award held on the 5th of October 2015 at Tamela the Northern regional capital of Ghana.
Inspite of all this achievement the school lack some basic amenities like place of convenience and ICT Laboratory. The school use to have a place of convenience but the structure broke down due to heavy storm last year and have now become a deadly trap, but since there is no other place for the children some still use it while others go to the nearby bush to dispose off their solid waste from their body. Another challenge the school face is ICT Lab. Since the world has now become a global village and ICT has taken the centre stage one have to be abreast with the technological growth of the world. Although the school can boast of 5 laptops and 4 desktop computers, where to keep them have become a problem. As popular as the school is in the district the school lack ICT lab. Making the teaching of the subject very theoretical and difficult to understand by the pupil. The construction of ICT lab for the school have become an abandoned project left to the mercy of the weather. Work on the project have been in a stand still and for years now still at the foundation level. Below are pictures of the abandoned project.
The school have tried hard to get help from some organisations but all have prove futile. We will be very pleased if organisations, philanthropist or individual come to our aid to at least build one of the two for us. God richly bless you as you prepare to help.
