Some irate youth at Dumso-Bethel in the Kintampo South District of the Brong Ahafo Region have slaughtered over 80 cattle belonging to the nomadic Fulani herdsmen.
According to the youth, the cattle were destroying their farms and vegetation.
Spokesperson for the community, Haruna Dramani told Accra-based Joy FM that the agitated youth took the action upon provocation from the Fulani herdsmen.
"About four Fulani herdsmen came to the town to threaten the youth in the area. They told them that if they came anywhere near their cattle, they will deal with them. The youth subsequently rose to the challenge and went to kill about eighty of the cattle.
"So we are calling on the security agencies to intervene immediately so that the fulani herdsmen will not kill the young men," he added.
The Fulani herdsmen over the years have also clashed with Agogo residents for damaging their crops and farms. The Fulani herdsmen have been accused of engaging in robbery, rape and the murder of residents in the process.
Police and military action subsequently begun in Agogo in the Ashanti Region to deal with the Fulani herdsmen.
