The Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has said he is not into politics to shortchange Ghanaians.
Speaking to residents of Ekon in the Central Region as part of his five day tour of the region, Nana Addo said he did not come into politics to take bribes or be corrupt.
“I am not into politics to take bribes or be corrupt. I did not come into politics to line my pocket with your money, that is not why I am into politics. I am clean because I did not go into government to steal money. The same way, when you repose your confidence in me and help me win the election, I assure you that I will jealously guard the resources of the nation to benefit Ghanaians,” Nana Addo said.
His comments come days after President Mahama was accused of accepting a Ford expedition gift from a Burkinabe contractor.
Giving clear examples to support his claim, Nana Addo revealed a futile attempt by government operatives to investigate his tenure as Attorney General and Minister of Foreign Affairs in order to implicate him.
According to him, several investigations by the BNI and National Security’s attempt to investigate him in order to find out any wrongdoing against him, have so far proved futile since he executed his job at the time with integrity.
Nana Addo said his level of incorruptibility, is a clear indication that he will manage the country’s resources effectively if elected President.
“There is nothing against me, they try to say this, to say that, to find this but up till today, they have nothing against me because I was clean when I was in government. I did not enter politics to take bribes.”
