For this reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self control; and to self control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.
BODY
The Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. Amen! Believers like you and me are to add to make conscious effort to add up to our everyday Christianity. In here, Apostle Peter lists about seven virtues a Christian must develop in order to be spiritually victorious and fruitful before God. The phrase in the text "make every effort" demonstrates that believers must be actively involved in their Christian growth.
He further admonishes us that, those who become Christians must immediately strive to add to their faith these seven qualities. Beloved, remember that godly characteristics do not automatically grow without our diligent effort to cultivate them. We must must make an effort to cultivate them.
